“Prophetic Poirier?” Dustin Poirier Predicts How Trilogy Will End

Dustin Poirier isn’t known for making predictions on how his fights will end, but that changes ahead of UFC 264.

In the main event of the stacked pay-per-view card, Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor are set to settle their highly anticipated trilogy match. It’s a fascinating fight given they fought just six months ago in January, where Poirier scored a second-round TKO.

Both men are expecting a different fight, and McGregor hasn’t been shy to share his prediction, as he’s predicting a devastating KO. However, for Poirier, he believes he will finish the Irishman again; but this time, he will do it by submission.

“I think I’m gonna finish him again,” Poirier said to BT Sport. “I’m not sure if I’m gonna knock him out. It could be a stoppage by strikes. We’ll see. For some reason, I really have a feeling I’m gonna submit him. I really do.”

If Poirier does finish McGregor again, a submission victory is certainly a path to victory. The Irishman has been submitted in four of his five losses, with the other coming by TKO to “The Diamond” in January. Against Nate Diaz in the first fight, he seemed to gas out and gave Diaz his back and neck for the submission so that’s certainly a possibility to happen on Saturday.

Poirier, however, isn’t known for his submission game as out of his 27 wins, only seven have come by submission.

Although Dustin Poirier believes he will submit McGregor at UFC 264 on Saturday, the main focus for The Diamond is to get his hand raised. If he defeats and stops McGregor again, it would be massive for his star power and would set up a lightweight title fight against Charles Oliveira later this year.

Do you think Dustin Poirier will submit Conor McGregor at UFC 264 on Saturday in Las Vegas?
