After Bellator MMA filed a lawsuit against UFC over the right to promote Quinton “Rampage” Jackson fights, details of Rampage’s Bellator deal continue to surface online. The latest perk to be uncovered is the fact that Jackson’s agreement included a potential boxing pay-per-view bout with Roy Jones Jr.
MMAJunkie.com recently obtained Rampage’s Bellator contract, which revealed the fact that an option was included in the agreement that would have allowed Jackson to fight Jones Jr. in a boxing match on pay-per-view television.
“The contract specified that Bellator could convert Jackson’s second pay-per-view bout into a boxing match “in lieu of an MMA bout,” and that Jones could be an opponent.
Jackson stood to profit handsomely from a fight with Jones. The contract said the ex-UFC champ would take home one-third (33.3 percent) of the net profits from an event in which he fought the ex-boxing champ.”
Previous specific details to come out of Rampage’s deal with Bellator included a 2013 Telsa Sport, $140,000 to do a “Rampage 4 Real” reality show on Spike TV and a potential film deal.
As things stand now, Rampage is still scheduled to make his Octagon return at UFC 186, where he is slated to fight Fabio Maldonado in Montreal.
