During Dana White’s pre-UFC 177 media scrum in Sacramento on Friday evening, the UFC President made it clear that due to the issues that led to Renan Barao pulling out of his scheduled rematch against TJ Dillashaw at UFC 177, that the former UFC Bantamweight Champion will no longer be receiving an immediate title shot.
Barao, who lost his first fight inside the Octagon to Dillashaw back at UFC 173 in May, was scheduled to receive an immediate rematch against the new champion, however according to White, he will now have to work his way back to a championship match.
As noted, with Barao pulling out of UFC 177, UFC newcomer Joe Soto will step in to challenge Dillashaw in the new main event of tonight’s pay-per-view, which emanates from the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, California.
Make sure to stop back by MMANews.com later tonight for live, round-by-round results coverage of UFC 177: Dillashaw vs. Soto.
