Ronda Rousey’s Head Coach Says She Would Knock Cyborg Out

In recent weeks, the MMA world has been buzzing about a possible showdown between two of the sport’s fiercest female competitors, UFC Women’s Bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey and former Strikeforce Women’s Featherweight Champions Cris “Cyborg” Justino.

Following Rousey’s dominant title defense at last weekend’s UFC 175 pay-per-view, Rousey’s head coach Edmond Tarverydyan addressed the issue, telling MMA Fighting that Rousey could knock Cyborg out.

“Absolutely, I like that fight I love that fight. Ronda knows, I spoke to Ronda. I said, ‘You knock out Cyborg any given day.’ Ronda knocks out Cyborg. I believe even with one hand she fights Cyborg, she beats her.”

Ronda Rousey: Cyborg “Knows Where I’m At” If She Wants To Get Her Ass Beat

Despite that bold claim, he gave Cyborg some credit, acknowledging that she’s a tough fighter that’s not afraid to leave it all in the cage.

“‘Cyborg’ is a swinger, she’s tough. She’ll let her hands go and then she’ll get into a fight with Ronda and that’s an exciting fight. But what I believe with my fighter is my fighter is the best in the world. I would love to see that fight.”

Although UFC President Dana White says he is interested in signing Cyborg, this fight won’t be happening until early 2015 at the earliest, since Rousey was hit with a medical suspension that keeps her out of action until January 2nd.
