Rory MacDonald vs. Hector Lombard Title Eliminator Rumored For UFC 186

A very intriguing welterweight bout is reportedly in the works for the upcoming UFC 186 pay-per-view in April.

While yet to be officially announced, a potential welterweight title eliminator fight between top-ranked contenders Hector Lombard and Rory MacDonald has apparently been agreed upon by both combatants.

Coming off an impressive decision victory over Josh Burkman at UFC 182 this past Saturday in Las Vegas, Nevada, Lombard (34-4-1, 1 N.C.) comes into the bout with MacDonald while riding a three-fight winning streak, which includes victories over highly-regarded opposition, including Jake Shields and Nate Marquardt.

Meanwhile, MacDonald (18-2) is coming off an impressive third-round TKO of Tarec Saffiedine in October, a win that was originally intended to put MacDonald in line for the next shot at the UFC welterweight title.

Instead, MacDonald, much like Lombard, will take his current three-fight winning streak, which includes wins over the likes of Tyron Woodley and Demian Maia, into the Octagon on April 25th to determine the next title challenger, as current UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler will defend the belt in an immediate trilogy match with former champion Johny Hendricks.

The rumored Lombard-MacDonald fight is unofficially scheduled to take place at UFC 186 on April 25th at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
