Roxanne Modafferi vs. Liz Carmouche Reported for UFC on ESPN 4

Roxanne Modafferi will look to keep her trademark smile on her face and pick up her second consecutive win when she heads to the Lone Star State for UFC San Antonio to take on Liz Carmouche in a flyweight bout on July 20, as initially reported by ESPN.

The “Happy Warrior” Roxanne Modafferi is certainly one of the most experienced fighters in the UFC roster, with a total of 38 fights to her name. The judo and jiu-jitsu brown belt began her MMA career in 2003 and has become known for her grappling inside of the cage and an infectious personality outside of it. After a three-year run in Invicta, Modaferri would then enter The Ultimate Fighter house in attempt to be crowned the first ever UFC women’s flyweight champion. That honor would ultimate go to Nicco Montana, who defeated Modaferri at The Ultimate Fighter 26 Finale in December, 2017 via unanimous decision.

Since that loss, Modaferri has gone 2-1 in her UFC career most recently defeating Antonia Shevchenko as a sizable underdog  and making history in the process, becoming the first female to win a fight in Russia.

Liz Carmouche is no stranger to making history herself, as one of the first two women to ever compete in the UFC in her UFC 157 bantamweight championship bout against Ronda Rousey. Unlike Modafferi, though, Carmouche was unable to be on the winning end of the history, but she helped usher in the era for Modafferi and other women to set new milestones. Liz Carmouche will enter the fight with a 13-6 professional record and a two-fight winning streak. Most recently, Liz Carmouche defeated Lucie Pudilova this past February at UFC on ESPN+3.

UFC San Antonio (UFC on ESPN 4) takes place July 20, 2019 at the AT&T Center in San Antonio Texas.
