Sonnen Recalls One-Sided Sparring Between Dillashaw and Sandhagen

Chael Sonnen revealed he was witness to a training session in the past of Cory Sandhagen and TJ Dillashaw which saw one of the fighters put a beating on the other.

The retired fighter and now ESPN analyst Chael Sonnen mentioned that during one of Sandhagen and Dillashaw’s sparring sessions as former training partners, one of them put on such a clinic on the other that coach Trevor Wittman had to stop the session. Sonnen respectfully did not mention who got the short end of the stick.

“Sandhagen and Dillashaw were training partners,” Sonnen said on his Youtube channel. “They were in Colorado, they were in the room together. Coach [Trevor] Wittman was running the workout and they were in the room together and they sparred. Now, I know how that went. Can’t say, [though]. I will tell you this: it was so one-sided that the coach separated them.”

#2-ranked bantamweight contender Sandhagen welcomes back TJ Dillashaw back into the Octagon at UFC Vegas 32 this Saturday after the latter spent two years out on the sidelines. The American was suspended by USADA after he tested positive for recombinant human erythropoietin (EPO) prior to his fight with Henry Cejudo, a fight in which he failed to become a two-division simultaneous champion.

Sandhagen is riding high on a two-fight win streak, which saw him earn two “KO of the Year” caliber knockouts against Marlon Moraes and Frankie Edgar. Many believe this fight to be a clear title eliminator, where the victor will go on to fight for the UFC belt next.

Who do you think got the better of each other in sparring and who do you see winning this weekend?
