2016 was a huge year for both UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor and his two-fight opponent Nate Diaz.
Both men put on one of the greatest fights ever seen in Mixed Martial Arts at UFC 202, and UFC and FOX have combined in the production and release of an awesome recap of that night, with some excellent never before seen (or heard) footage.
The rematch was the most anticipated bout of the year, following Diaz’s second-round submission of the featherweight title holder at UFC 196 in March. The now legendary words “I’m not surprised, Motherf**kers” even had a response from the victorious Irishman following the fight.
“UFC Soundwaves” takes you behind the scenes of the McGregor hype, showcasing the now UFC lightweight champion’s love of all things glitz and glam: the Irishman’s partner, Dee Devlin, even claims that the fighter needs two passports for two pairs of his shoes…
The video moves to footage of the epic fight of the year at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena, showcasing both fighters’ corners barking instructions at their men in an electrifying, pulsating atmosphere.
McGregor and Diaz, in the end, praise each other at the sound of the final horn, as Joe Rogan and Mike Goldberg tell us what we already know. “The Notorious” asks “Big John” McCarthy ‘who won?’ as both blood-stained men are met by their corners. The scene then cuts to Bruce Buffer making his way into the octagon with the judge’s scorecards…
This is genuinely awesome viewing. Check out the full video, above.
