TJ Dillashaw Claims Mayweather Benefits From 8oz Gloves [VIDEO]

Former UFC bantamweight world champion TJ Dillashaw has claimed that Conor McGregor will be giving an advantage to Mayweather in ceding to the boxer’s request to don 8oz gloves in their Aug. 26 bout

While the junior-middleweight threshold requires boxers to wear 10oz gloves at a minimum, Mayweather surprised many by claiming that he wanted to use 8oz gloves against McGregor. In order to persuade the Nevada State Athletic Commission to allow both men to fight wearing 8oz gloves, Mayweather & McGregor must present a cogent argument to back up their request.

While many had argued that McGregor would be carrying more power over his rival come Aug. 26, former UFC 135-pound kingpin Dillashaw sees things differently:

“Mayweather’s going to make him miss, he’s going to make him get tired,” Dillashaw told FightHype. “McGregor, in my opinion, doesn’t have the cardio and [Mayweather] is going to take advantage of that in the later rounds.”

“[80z gloves are] to his advantage…to Mayweather’s,” Dillashaw claimed. “I think Mayweather is the heavier hitter. Even though it [doesn’t look] like it when Conor fights in MMA…we are wearing 40z gloves, it’s a little bit of a different story. I still think Mayweather is the heavier hitter.”
