Two More Fights Changed At UFC 189 PPV

It looks like the main event scrap for the UFC Featherweight Championship isn’t the only fight causing issues to the UFC 189 fight card on July 11 in Las Vegas.

UFC.com announced on Tuesday that the planned welterweight bout between John Hathaway and Gunnar Nelson is off.

Instead, UFC veteran Brandon Thatch will step up on short notice to fight Nelson at the event inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Due to the fact that Thatch was scheduled to fight John Howard on the UFC 189 card, Ireland prospect Cathal Pendred now receives the assignment to test his skills against “Doomsday” Howard.

UFC 189: Aldo vs. McGregor is scheduled for Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

UPDATE: For those who have yet to read the story, the UFC Featherweight Championship bout between Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor at UFC 189 on July 11th is in serious jeopardy due to Aldo suffering what is believed to be fractured ribs. Two high-profile, top-ranked contenders (one of whom is a former two-time champion) have offered to step up and Dana White has commented on the whole situation.
