UFC 177 Medical Suspensions: Soto, Castillo Out For 6 Months

Following the August 30th UFC 177 pay-per-view event in Sacramento, California, UFC Bantamweight contender Joe Soto, who challenged TJ Dillashaw for the title on short notice, has been put under a 6-month medical suspension by the California State Athletic Commission.

Another high-profile, lengthy medical suspension coming out of the show went to Danny Castillo, who is also on the sidelines for 6 months, or until cleared by a doctor.

Below are the complete UFC 177 medical suspensions.

– Joe Soto: suspended 180 days with no contact during training sessions for 180 days due to a possible right-hand fracture unless cleared early by a physician; suspended 60 days with no contact for 60 days due to a nose laceration unless cleared early by a physician; regardless, suspended 45 days with no contact for 30 days and must undergo an ophthalmology exam for precautionary reasons.

– Danny Castillo: suspended 180 days with no contact for 180 days due to a possible right-thumb fracture unless cleared early by a physician

– Tony Ferguson: suspended 60 days with no contact for 60 days due to a right-eyebrow laceration unless cleared early by a physician

– Shayna Baszler: suspended 45 days with no contact for 30 days for precautionary reasons

– Ramsey Nijem: suspended 45 days with no contact for 30 days for precautionary reasons

– Damon Jackson: suspended 45 days with no contact for 30 days and must undergo a neurological exam for precautionary reasons

– Ruan Potts: suspended 45 days with no contact for 30 days for precautionary reasons

– Cain Carrizosa: suspended 45 days with no contact for 30 days for precautionary reasons
