As expected, UFC 182 did one of the best pay-per-view numbers for the promotion in quite some time.
According to MMAFighting.com’s Dave Meltzer, UFC 182, headlined by Jon Jones vs. Daniel Cormier for the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship, drew somewhere between 740,000 and 820,000 buys on pay-per-view.
It was noted during the week of the show by UFC President Dana White that he was predicting 750,000 buys for the pay-per-view, with him revising his prediction as the show drew closer, noting that the event was “tracking much higher than expected.”
Prior to UFC 182, Jones’ highest pay-per-view number was approximately 700,000 buys, which was the reported figure for his UFC 145 bout with Rashad Evans in April of 2012.
The last show to draw a number higher than the early estimates for UFC 182 was the UFC 168 event in December of 2013, which featured a double main event of Anderson Silva vs. Chris Weidman II and Ronda Rousey vs. Miesha Tate II.
