UFC Changing Their Hall Of Fame: Physical Location Planned, New Criteria To Get Inducted

UFC announced on Tuesday that they will be revamping their Hall Of Fame with specific categories leading to an eventual physical Hall Of Fame location in Las Vegas, Nevada.

UFC Hall Of Fame inductions for 2015 will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2015, which is the same date of the UFC 189 pay-per-view with Jose Aldo vs. Conor McGregor and Robbie Lawler vs. Rory MacDonald. It’s also the same date as the annual UFC Fan Expo.

The ceremony will be held as of part of the Fan Expo and it is expected that inductions will take place for the following categories:

– Pioneer Era — Meaning career started prior to November 17, 2000

– Modern Era — Career started after November 17, 2000

– Legendary Fight

– Contributor (non-fighters)

Fighters will be eligible to enter the UFC Hall Of Fame after they either turn 35, or if they have been retired for at least one year.

Fights themselves must have taken place at least five calendar years before they can be inducted. For this year, the fight must have taken place prior to December 31, 2010.

Over the next three years, there will be a minimum of one inductee in each category. After that, it will be open inductions with no quota.

The UFC will be making their induction selections with UFC President Dana White as the head of the slections committee.
