When it rains, it pours.
UFC got some more bad news this week, as yet another main event fight is off due to injury.
Just twelve days after announcing the fight, the planned main event for UFC Fight Night 62 between top-ranked UFC Bantamweight contenders Urijah Faber and Raphael Assuncao has been scrapped due to Assuncao suffering an injury during training.
Assuncao apparently will not be able to recover in time from a broken ankle that he suffered earlier this year for the fight to take place on the date that it’s scheduled.
Brazilian MMA media outlet Combate was the first to report the news.
With Assuncao out of the fight, UFC will have to scramble to find a suitable replacement opponent who is willing to take a fight with Faber on short notice.
Co-headlined by Demian Maia vs. Ryan LaFlare, which is still on as of this writing, UFC Fight Night 62 is scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 21st at the Maracanazinho Gymnasium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
