UFC Nashville Results: Pettis Puts Thompson To Sleep

UFC on ESPN+ 6 went down tonight (Sat. March 23, 2019) from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. Former UFC lightweight champion Anthony “Showtime” Pettis jumped up to welterweight in the main event. He faced two-time UFC welterweight title challenger Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson.

In the co-main event, Curtis Blaydes took on Justin Willis after weeks of verbal back-and-forth from the pair. It was a great night of fights from “Music City.” Check out MMA News’ coverage of UFC Nashville below:

Main Card (ESPN+)

• Welterweight: Stephen Thompson vs. Anthony Pettis

Round 1:

Body kick lands for Pettis. He follows it up with another and Thompson has a head kick blocked before landing a jab. A hard leg kick from Pettis. Thompson fires back with a side kick to the body. Pettis really closing distance on Thompson, not allowing his to use his length. Thompson catches Pettis with a hard jab and spinning heel kick. The round comes to an end.

Round 2:

Pettis attempting to break Thompson’s legs down with leg kicks. Thompson still doing a good job of busting Pettis up with strikes. He’s clearly the supperior striker. Hard jab lands for Thompson, but Pettis responds with one of his own. Pettis hits Thompson with a massive superman punch after bouncing off the cage, and Thompson is out COLD! Some follow up shots and that’s it!
