Cody Garbrandt vs. Rob Font was just advertised – violence.
The two fighters met in a bout on Saturday night (May 22, 2021) at the UFC Vegas 27 event from Las Vegas, Nevada at the UFC Apex facility.
Garbrandt got rocked in the first round, but recovered and tossed him to the ground before landing a head kick. Garbrandt did get a takedown in the second round, but Font got back to his feet and was landing jabs.
The second round was a good one for Font. Garbrandt did go for a takedown, but was stuffed in round three. Font was doing a good job of walking him down and avoiding shots. Garbrandt didn’t have an answer on the feet and Font walked away with the decision win.

Font had won his last 4 out of 5 bouts and on a three-fight winning streak heading into this fight. He ripped off wins over the likes of Sergio Pettis in December 2018 by decision, Ricky SimĂ³n via decision in December 2019 and a KO win over Marlon Moraes in December 2020.
Garbrandt was on a fall from grace heading into his previous fight after being undefeated. He dropped the bantamweight title to TJ Dillashaw by TKO at UFC 217 then was knocked out in a rematch at UFC 227 by Dillashaw. He then lost to Pedro Munhoz in a wild fight at UFC 235 by TKO. He scored a second round KO win over Raphael Assuncao at the UFC 250 pay-per-view event in June 2020.
