By now everyone has heard the news that the Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz rematch at UFC 200 is off. The question is, what will the new UFC 200 main event look like now? On Tuesday evening, Dana White provided some answers.
As we reported via ESPN.com on Tuesday evening, the UFC President made an appearance to explain the UFC’s decision to pull McGregor from the UFC 200 main event.
According to White, McGregor refused to show up in Las Vegas for his press conference commitments, something White pointed out has only ever happened one other time in UFC history, oddly enough, when Nate’s older brother Nick Diaz no-showed a pre-fight press conference with Georges St-Pierre.
As a result of McGregor being pulled from the fight, he has claimed he will be retiring young. Whether or not he really is retiring remains to be seen, however one thing that is clear — UFC is working on a new UFC 200 main event.
White noted during his ESPN appearance on Tuesday evening that UFC officials are working on putting together a new fight for Nate Diaz at UFC 200, as well as a new separate fight being added to the card to make up for the loss of McGregor.
UFC 200 is scheduled for Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the brand new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
