According to various reports, the reason Renan Barao was forced to pull out of his scheduled main event rematch against TJ Dillashaw at UFC 177 on Saturday night just 24-hours before the event was due to an accident that took place while he was cutting weight for the fight.
Nova Uniao, Barao’s team, sent out a release claiming that Barao felt dizzy while coming out of his bath tub in his hotel room and as a result, fell and hit his head against the wall and then passed out.
The report claims that Barao was rushed to the hospital after this accident and thus, was forced to pull out of Saturday’s UFC 177 pay-per-view.
As noted earlier today, due to the Barao situation, the new main event for Saturday’s pay-per-view will be TJ Dillashaw vs. Joe Soto. It’s worth noting that one source claims that Dillashaw had to be talked into accepting the fight on such short notice.
