It looks like the former king of heavyweight MMA, Fedor Emelianenko, is inching closer and closer to the UFC’s world-famous Octagon for the first time in his legendary career.
Fedor, who recently announced his intentions to return to MMA competition, spoke in a new video about his current negotiations with various promotions about an MMA return, noting that UFC is one of them, and that he wants to fight the “strongest fighters in the world.”
One of those fighters, who Fedor mentioned by name, is current UFC Heavyweight Champion Fabricio Werdum, the man who ended Fedor’s legendary undefeated streak.
“This is being negotiated, in particular with the UFC, as well as some other promotions,” said Fedor in the new video, translated by MMAMania.com. “I think it will soon be finally determined. As for the opponent, I would say that desire must comply opportunities.”
From there, Fedor revealed his intentions to secure a rematch with Werdum.
“I would like to face the strongest fighters in the world, UFC champion Fabricio Werdum. Given that over three years I did not fight, during the first fight I would like to get involved, check for myself. So now I’ll regain my shape after returning from Mashuk [youth forum] and will then begin a scheduled training camp.”
