As noted, former Strikeforce Lightweight Champion and UFC title contender Gilbert Melendez made his first trip to the Octagon following his UFC suspension on Saturday night.
Melendez, a member of the Cesar Gracie fight team out of California, which also includes UFC stars Nick Diaz and Nate Diaz, as well as former multiple-promotion champion Jake Shields, lost to dangerous striker Edson Barboza at the UFC On FOX 20 event in Chicago.
