During a recent Fightland video interview, UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo spoke about his upcoming rematch with Chad Mendes, which headlines this Saturday’s UFC 179 pay-per-view in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
During the interview, Aldo spoke about team Nova Uniao’s rivalry with team Alpha Male, referencing the fact that T.J. Dillashaw took Renan Barao’s UFC Bantamweight Championship in their last meeting, heating up the rivalry between both fight teams.
From there, Aldo made some interesting comments about a super-fight that never happened with UFC Lightweight Champion Anthony Pettis, a fight that Aldo claimed didn’t happen because Pettis “backed out.”
Below is an excerpt from the interview, which you can watch at the top of this page.
“Whomever you put in front of me, I’ll fight them. There’s been a lot of talk about my fight with Anthony Pettis, who is the lightweight champion. We almost sealed the fight, but we definitely intend to fight in the future because he challenged and backed out. So that’s one fight I’d love to see. Myself, Pettis, and the fans.”
