UFC.com has published an exclusive video interview with Nick Diaz, who earlier this month signed a 3-fight deal to return to the promotion in early 2015.
During the interview, Diaz spoke about a number of topics, including what he’s been up to during his time away. Diaz says he’s enjoyed his time away from fighting. He’s been staying in shape, doing a lot of running and “getting some things done, squaring some things away.” Just because he’s “not getting punched around every day” doesn’t mean he’s not focused on what he’s doing.
Diaz obviously would like to fight for the title – “that would be worth fighting for.”
He takes a lot of pride in not just his work inside the Octagon, but his commitment to the fans. He could play it safe and try to win on score cards, but he feels the need to “keep it real” and fight hard.
He spoke about the fact that there’s currently a lot of guys who fight like him, naming Robbie Lawler as an example. “That’s why they’re still around, they more more of a show and have a lot of fans who count on them.” He also spoke about the downside of his brash persona, saying that he sees little kids using the middle finger and that’s not a reaction he intended.
He wants another shot at Anderson Silva, a fight that’s rumored to be in the works for early 2015. He says Silva has a kickboxing style, which makes him a good fit for him.
