ULTIMATE WARRIOR CHALLENGE RETURNS TO THE PATRIOT CENTER SAT., OCTOBER 11 WITH UWC-CONFRONTATION

BRITT VS. ROUFUS AND EASTON VS. DODSON FIGHTS HIGHLIGHT ELECTRIFYING WORLD-CLASS MMA CARD

Fairfax, VA (September 8, 2008) — UWC is back. The DC area’s biggest and best professional mix martial arts action makes its highly-anticipated return Saturday, October 11, 2008 at the GMU – Patriot Center as Ultimate Warrior Sports Development (UWCD), LLC, presents UWC-CONFRONTATION. The top two bouts feature an east vs. west coast rivalry involving captivating, fan-pleasing MMA styles. Virginia rising star Antwain “The Juggernaut” Britt (5-0), who will appear on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 8, and legendary kickboxer-turned-MMA fighter Rick “The Jet” Roufus (5-3-0), training out of Ken Shamrock’s Lion’s Den in Scottsdale, AZ, will collide in the Main Event. The co-Main Event pits two of the sport’s top young, up-and-coming fighters as DC’s Mike “The Hulk” Easton (5-1-0) of Team Lloyd Irvin battles John “The Magician” Dodson (5-2-0) from Greg Jackson’s Albuquerque, NM camp in a bantamweight clash.

The event starts at 6pm (doors open 4:30pm) and tickets can be purchased through all local Ticketmaster outlets and online at www.uwcmma.com and www.uwcmma.com/uwc4 (Event Flash Website)

“We look forward to bringing another first-class professional MMA show to the greater Washington area featuring a world-class lineup and providing a platform for the region’s top fighters to showcase their talent in their hometown,” said UWSD CEO S. Marcello Foran. “Fight fans can see this first-hand in both main event and in our featured fight. Expect another explosive and high-energy show at Confrontation with non-stop action inside the cage, appealing to both hardcore MMA fans and casual sports fans that are just picking up on the country’s hottest and fastest growing sport.”

Britt, a product of Virginia Beach’s Hybrid Academy of Martial Arts, is best known for his concrete hands and knock-out ability. The agile striker recently shed more than 30 pounds to enter the light heavyweight division. An acute cage presence and tenacious fighting ability caught the eyes of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), which invited him to join the upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter reality series on Spike TV. In his most recent bout held last month, Antwain scored a 51-second first-round TKO victory against Wayne Cole.

Standing in Britt’s way is International Kickboxing Federation legend Roufus, fighting out of the highly-regarded Lion’s Den gym. Roufus captured six world titles in six different weight classes finishing with an impressive 63-9-1 (43 KOs) record as a professional kickboxer before switching over to MMA. A true mixed-discipline fighter, the former K-1 champion has also excelled as a conventional boxer, winning the World Boxing Council’s Continental Americas Cruiserweight title. Rage in the Cage, Affliction, and UFC vet Edwin DeWees will work Roufus’ corner against Britt.

DC fighter Easton trains out of Lloyd Irvin’s Mixed Martial Arts Academy in suburban Maryland where he is a teammate of UFC star Brandon “The Truth” Vera. He is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu specialist coming off of two consecutive victories, including his impressive first-round KO over Gerald Lovato at UWC-INVASION in April that earned him a strong following. Easton’s infectious enthusiasm and attractive fighting style make him a hometown fan favorite.

Easton will have his hands full with Dodson, the high-flying acrobatic fighter featured on last week’s episode of the popular MMA TV show, TapouT. The TapouT crew is currently sponsoring Dodson as they see a bright future in his MMA career. Fighting out of Greg Jackson’s world-famous camp in Albuquerque, NM, Dodson has also won his last two bouts. He is considered one of the most electrifying, pound-for-pound fighters today, sure to help provide a crowd-pleasing showdown against Easton.

Presented by UltimateVIP International, UWC-CONFRONTATION features up to 11 pro cage-fights with a collection of world-class athletes from across the country and from the greater Washington area’s top MMA schools/teams. Fans can once again expect to see some of their favorite MMA superstars in attendance for the star-studded event.

UWC — INVASION, held last April, entertained nearly 5,000 fans at the Patriot Center and drew rave reviews from the MMA community for its non-stop action from start to finish and highly-charged and celebrity-filled environment. The bouts featured a mix of accomplished fighters, UFC veterans and local stars putting on an outstanding and highly-talked about show. Superstars such as Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Andre “The Pitbull” Arlovski, Brandon “The Truth” Vera, Carlos Condit, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, Hermes Franca and others traveled across the country to get a first-hand look at the UWC presentation.
