Following the XFC International 7 event in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Saturday night, an attempt was made to create some buzz for a potential Wanderlei Silva vs. Chael Sonnen fight in Brazil.
Silva, who served as a guest analyst for the event, was asked by the XFC President Myron Molotky after the show if he would be interested in fighting Sonnen.
“Are you ready to do this? Let’s do this,” said the XFC President to Silva after the main event.
Silva responded by saying, “If [Sonnen] accepts the fight, why not? I’d do it. Why not? I’m here. Come get it.”
Silva and Sonnen served as coaches for the most recent season of The Ultimate Fighter Brazil, and were expected to fight each other at the conclusion of the season. Instead, the bout was moved due to an injury sustained by Silva.
Scheduled to take place at UFC 175, Silva vs. Sonnen ended up being scrapped when Silva refused to take a pre-fight drug test, and Sonnen failed his.
