UFC on ESPN 12 Results: Poirier Decisions Hooker

Check out MMA News' UFC on ESPN 12 results, featuring a main event meeting between Dan Hooker and Dustin Porirer in a lightweight showdown.

UFC on ESPN 12 went down tonight (Saturday, June 27, 2020) from Las Vegas, Nevada at the UFC APEX and we have the results. The world’s leading mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion compiled an excellent card for fight fans to enjoy.

It was headlined by a meeting between Dan Hooker and Dustin Poirier in a lightweight showdown.

The co-headliner saw Mickey Gall vs. Mike Perry in a welterweight bout. Brendan Allen vs. Kyle Daukaus in a middleweight bout, Gian Villante vs. Maurice Greene in a heavyweight bout, Philipe Lins vs. Tanner Boser in a heavyweight showdown, and Sean Woodson vs. Julian Erosa in a catchweight bout rounded out the main card.

Dustin Poirier vs. Dan Hooker

Hooker came out pressing and worked over the lead leg of Poirier with leg kicks. Poirier landed a good shot that led to Hooker to clinch and they traded inside of the phone booth. In the second round, Hooker stunned him but they then had another great exchange close up against the fence. The dynamic of this fight was simple – when Poirier was able to stay close, he had a technical brawling style that prevailed while Hooker managed to caplitze while at range. Both guys were bleeding at this point. Hooker unleashed an incredible combo with 30 seconds left in the round that somehow Poirier survived. The third round saw Hooker score a takedown but Poirier went for a guillotine choke, but Hooker got out. The pace slowed down, but rightfully so. Hooker scored a takedown in the fourth round but Poirier got to his feet so Hooker clinched with him against the fence. Poirier nabbed the decision win.

Mickey Gall vs. Mike Perry

Gall came out and was throwing some big strikes. Perry had a cut above his eye and sporting the damage dished out by Gall. Gall threw a kick and Perry caught that led to him scoring a takedown. Perry stuffed a takedown then decided to go with one of his own and got it to start out the second round. Perry landed a left hand that stunned Gall and then followed it up with a takedown. Perry got mount and rained down monster elbows to close out the round. Perry continued in the third round and it nearly played out the same as the second round. The judges gave the win to Perry.

Gian Villante vs. Maurice Greene

A slow paced fight to start things out as both guys were looking for range, but did throw leather. The lackluster fight featured several leg kicks by both guys trying to set up things for combos. Greene broke a toe in the second round, but kept on kicking. As the second round kicked off, Green started to react to the kicks on the left leg. Villante kept throwing them though. Villante stunned him in the third round before scoring a takedown and getting half guard. Green locked in the choke that no one knew what it was as Greene was on his back and used his pec to squeeze on the throat of his opponent. An arm-triangle choke.

Brendan Allen vs. Kyle Daukaus

These dudes were throwing hands right out of the gate. Allen dropped him with a knee strike while in the clinch then got on top of him and worked over Daukaus with strikes. Daukaus survived the onslaught and got back to his feet and turned the tables. Allen managed to slice open Daukaus. In the second round, Daukaus landed a combo that set up a takedown. Daukauswas bleeding pretty good at this point but stayed on top going through different positions. Daukaus dropped him to end the second round. More of the same by Daukaus, who was able to get his back and lock in a body-triangle. The judges gave the win to Allen by decision.

Takashi Sato vs. Jason Witt

Sato landed a big 1-2 that dropped him with the left straight then pounced on him once on the ground for the win in just 48 seconds.

Sean Woodson vs. Julian Erosa

Erosa was pressing him in the early going as he tried to close the range, which was a big advantage that Woodson had. This was a striking affair with both guys having their moments. Woodson started to get tired as the pace brought upon by Erosa was something else. Woodson dropped him with a nice strike in the third round. However, Erosa managed to get back to his feet. Erosa scored a takedown late in the round and scored the d’arce choke for the win.

It’s certain to have a great night of fights. Check out MMA News’ UFC On ESPN 12 results below:
