UFC Vegas 16 Results: Marvin Vettori Decisions Jack Hermansson

Check out MMA News' UFC Fight Night: Hermansson vs. Vettori results, featuring a main event meeting between Jack Hermansson and Marvin Vettori

UFC Vegas 16 went down tonight (Saturday, December 5, 2020) from the APEX facility in Las Vegas, Nevada and we have the results. The world’s leading mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion compiled an excellent card for fight fans to enjoy.

It was headlined by a meeting between Jack Hermansson and Marvin Vettori in a middleweight bout.

The co-headliner saw a light heavyweight bout between Ovince Saint Preux and Jamahal Hill. Gabriel Benitez vs. Justin Jaynes, Montana de la Rosa vs. Talia Santos, John Allan Arte vs. Roman Dolidze, and Movsar Evloev vs. Nate Landwehr was supposed to finish out the main card.

Hours before the show, De La Rosa vs.Santos and Evloev vs. Landwehr was pulled from the main card while Jimmy Flick vs. Cody Durden was nixed from the prelims due to non-COVID-19 reasons.

Jack Hermansson vs. Marvin Vettori

No feeling out the process here as both guys were throwing. Vettori snapped some solid back-to-back strikes while Hermansson landed a big right hand. Vettori dropped him with a left hand then went for the finish with a series of strikes before switching to a guillotine choke, but let it go. Hermansson went for a takedown, but Vettori stuffed it. Vettori hit a switch and got on top. Hermansson was active, but wasn’t doing any damage. They separated and Hermansson got back up. Hermansson started to let his hands really go in the third round as he landed more strikes. The straight left hand was always landing for Vettori as if it was a lazer. The final two rounds were all striking with it being a close back and forth strikes. The judges gave the win to Vettori by unanimous decision.

Ovince Saint Preux vs. Jamahal Hill

OSP got hit in the nuts right out of the gate, but pushed through it. Hill was throwing a lot of kicks and circling. They clinched up against the fence where OSP teased a guillotine choke, but let it go. Hill was having a hard time finding the chin of OSP due to his style. OSP started to do damage to the legs of Hill with kicks. Hill backed him up against the fence and just unloaded on him with strikes and knee strikes to the head. The referee waved it off.

Gabriel Benitez vs. Justin Jaynes

Jaynes was aggressive in the early going and throwing hard. Benitez had swelling around the left eye. Any time that Benitez was stepping in he would get clipped with an uppercut. Benitez was working over the back leg of Jaynes with kicks. Benitez landed a devastating knee strike to the chest of Jaynes, who went down, and Benitez swarmed him with strikes for the finish.

John Allan Arte vs. Roman Dolidze

A solid opening round with the two stars boxing. Dolidze stunned him with a headbutt but went for a submission instead of beating him up.  Dolidze got a takedown in the second round and worked him over for the majority of the round where he kept sweeping instead of doing more damage. Dolidze went for a heel hook, but let go of it. Allan got back to his feet and ate some shots. Allan landed a strong shot that led to him getting a takedown. The judges gave the win to Dolidze by split decision.

Jordan Leavitt vs. Matt Wiman

Leavitt picked up Wiman, walked across the cage and slammed Wiman down. Wiman was out cold on the landing. A nasty KO.

It was certain to have a great night of fights. Check out MMA News’ UFC Fight Night: Hermansson vs. Vettori results below:
