UFC Vegas 20 Results: Ciryl Gane Decisions Jairzinho Rozenstruik

UFC Vegas 20 went down tonight (Sat., February 27, 2021) from Las Vegas, Nevada at the UFC Apex facility and we have the results. The world’s leading mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion compiled an excellent card for fight fans to enjoy. 

It was headlined by a meeting Jairzinho Rozenstruik vs. Ciryl Gane between in a heavyweight bout. 

The co-headliner saw a bout between Magomed Ankalaev and Nikita Krylov. Montana De La Rosa vs. Mayra Bueno Silva, Pedro Munhoz vs. Jimmie Rivera and Alex Caceres vs. Kevin Croom finished out the main card.

Jairzinho Rozenstruik vs. Ciryl Gane

Gane landed a snapping jab to open the first round. Gane got a takedown late in the first round. They kept things on the feet in the second round and Gane was out striking him. Gane seemed worried with throwing follow up strikes as he wasn’t doing so because when he did, he got cracked. Herb Dean told them various times to pick up the action. Rozenstruik had no answer for Gane’s jab. Rozenstruik wasn’t doing anything to the point where he was criticized by the commentators. Gane controlled the pace and got the decision win. 

Magomed Ankalaev vs. Nikita Krylov

Ankalaev worked hard for the takedown early in round one, but Krylov did a nice job of staying up on his feet. Krylov rushed out and went after him, but Ankalaev ended up shutting it down quickly with his own strikes. Krylov had the tendency of just rushing in with his strikes while Ankalaev stayed flatfooted and threw. Finally in the later portion of the second round, Krylov clinched and scored a takedown. Ankalaev got a takedown in the third round and kept him up against the fence where he worked him with strikes. A dominating performance by Ankalaev.

Montana De La Rosa vs. Mayra Bueno Silva

Rosa worked for a takedown, but Silva did a nice job of staying on her feet although she was holding onto the fence. Silva got a point taken away for that. Rosa continued to work for a takedown, but Silva landed various strikes and elbows to stay on her feet. The start of the second round saw Silva counter a takedown and put Rosa on her back where she landed some strikes from top position. Rosa scrambled and got into half guard where she landed some strikes. The third round saw Rosa continue to work for the takedown, but they mostly clinched. It went the distance and was ruled a majority draw. 

Pedro Munhoz vs. Jimmie Rivera

They came out swinging. Rivera was mixing up things more including leg kicks. An incredible pace to start off the fight. Pedro started to throw leg kicks and Rivera was selling it pretty good as the first round came to a close. The second continued the violent pace although Rivera was working for a takedown. Pedro was pump faking calf kicks to set up strikes then would go back to the calf kicks. At the end of the fight, Rivera’s lead leg was purple and he could barely walk. Rivera busted open Pedro with a nasty left hook. Rivera was throwing jersey strong strikes to the bell. Pedro grabbed the decision win. 

Alex Caceres vs. Kevin Croom

Croom continuously clinched with him up against the fence and worked for the take down while Caceres was throwing various kicks. Croom eventually got it and even had his back, but Alex scrambled back to his feet. The second round saw Croom continue to work for the takedown. He got it and moved to full guard. Alex locked in an arm triangle choke, but Alex let it go. Alex scrambled to his feet. The opening of the third round saw Alex get rocked but he was still throwing wildey. Croom got a takedown mid-way through the round. Croom got another takedown, but Alex took his back. The judges gave the win to Alex.

  • Women’s flyweight bout: Montana De La Rosa vs. Mayra Bueno Silva ends in a majority draw (27-28, 28-28, 28-28)
  • Bantamweight bout: Pedro Munhoz def. Jimmie Rivera by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)
  • Featherweight bout: Alex Caceres def. Kevin Croom by unanimous decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-27)

  • Bantamweight bout: Ronnie Lawrence def. Vince Cachero by TKO (punches) at 2:38 of Round 3
  • Heavyweight bout: Dustin Jacoby def. Maxim Grishin by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
