UFC Vegas 26 Results: Rodriguez Decisions Waterson

UFC Vegas 26 went down tonight (Saturday, May 8, 2021) from Las Vegas, Nevada at the UFC Apex facility and we have the results. The world’s leading mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion compiled an excellent card for fight fans to enjoy. 

It was headlined by a meeting between Michelle Waterson and Marina Rodriguez in a bout. 

The co-headliner saw a bout between Donald Cerrone and Alex Morono. Neil Magny vs. Geoff Neal, Maurice Greene vs. Marcos Rogerio de Lima, Carlos Diego Ferreira vs. Gregor Gillespie, and Amanda Ribas vs. Angela Hill finished out the main card.

Michelle Waterson vs. Marina Rodriguez

Not a ton of action in the first round as they had a feeling out process. Waterson did go for a late round takedown, but stuffed and landed a backfist. The second round saw them continue to exchange and did so with power. They clinched up against the fence and traded elbows. They ended that round in the clinch. Marina was up 2-0 at this point. Waterson threw a wild kick and fell down at the start of the third round. Marina caught her with a nice head kick before going to the clinch. Marina unloaded on her up against the fence. Marina slipped and Waterson managed to land some strikes. Waterson caught her with a nice uppercut, but Marina had her stunned towards the end of the third round. Waterson got the takedown in the fourth round. They exchanged strikes to finish out the fifth round. Marina got the decision win. 

Donald Cerrone vs. Alex Morono

Cerrone came out and clinched with him right out of the gate after Alex rushed at him. Alex caught him with a head kick so Cerrone answered with a kick to the ribs. Cerrone clinched with him and Alex tossed him to the ground. Alex cracked him with two big right hands and Alex swarmed on him with strikes. Alex caught him with another right hook and the referee waved it off. 

Neil Magny vs. Geoff Neal

Neal caught him with a combo in the early part of the first round. They continued to trade it out. Magny would rush in and throw shots before clinching with him up against the fence. The latter part of the round saw Magny work for the takedown. Neal started to push forward and in his face with combos in the second round. Neal got a trip takedown in the middle part of the round and landed a big left hand as Magny was getting up. Magny shot in for a takedown, but it was stuffed. Magny was throwing in volume and the pace never stopped. They continued to trade in the third round in a really solid fight. In the end, it was Magny who got the decision win.

Maurice Greene vs. Marcos Rogerio de Lima

They traded strikes early until Lima scored a takedown and stayed on top, mostly in full guard, where he rained down strikes for three straight minutes. Lima scored a takedown right out of the gate in the second round. Lima got another takedown to start off the third round. He dished out some damage in this spot and it was good enough for a decision win. 

Carlos Diego Ferreira vs. Gregor Gillespie

They had a feeling out process early. Carlos worked for a takedown, but they ended up trading them and grappling. Gregor was bleeding from his nose after Carlos landed some good shots. Gregor went back to the takedown attempts, but wasn’t getting it and keeping him down so when they stood up, Carlos fired off some shots. Gregor worked him over with strikes on the ground with a few different takedowns. The end came when Gregor got back mount and rained down strikes.

  • Heavyweight bout:  Marcos Rogerio de Lima def. Maurice Greene by unanimous decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-27)
  • Lightweight bout: Gregor Gillespie def. Carlos Diego Ferreira by TKO (punches) at 4:51 of Round 2
  • Middleweight bout: Phil Hawes def. Kyle Daukaus by unanimous decision (30-26, 30-26, 29-27)

  • Featherweight bout:  Michael Trizano def. Ludovit Klein by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)
  • Middleweight bout: Jun Yong Park def. Tafon Nchukwi by majority decision (30-25, 29-26, 28-28)
  • Welterweight bout: Carlston Harris def. Christian Aguilera by submission (anaconda choke) at 2:52 of Round 1
