UFC Vegas 29 Results: Chan Sung Jung Decisions Dan Ige

UFC Vegas 29 went down tonight (Sat., June 19, 2021) from Las Vegas, Nevada at the UFC Apex facility and we have the results. The world’s leading mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion compiled an excellent card for fight fans to enjoy. 

It was headlined by a meeting between Chan Sung Jung and Dan Ige in a featherweight bout. 

The co-headliner saw a heavyweight bout between Aleksei Oleinik and Serghei Spivac.  Julian Erosa vs. Seungwoo Choi, Davey Grant vs. Marlon Vera, Bruno Silva vs. Wellington Turman, and Matt Brown vs. Dhiego Lima finished out the main card. 

Chan Sung Jung vs. Dan Ige

They had a feeling out process early. Jung scored a takedown in the middle of the round and got in half guard. Ige scrambled back to his feet about a minute later. Jung opened the second round with a right hook and knocked him down briefly but Ige got back to his feet. Ige shot in for a takedown, but Jung stuffed it. Jung stayed on top and got his back. The third round saw Jung score a takedown and got his back so he could work for a rear-naked choke. Ige was throwing leather in the fourth round until Jung took him down with about a minute to go. Ige threw shots like a mad man in the last round. Jung got the decision win.

Aleksei Oleinik vs. Serghei Spivac

Oleinik hunted him down throughout the whole fight while Spivac continued to back peddle and tried to counter strike. Oleinik landed good shots throughout the fight. In the second round, Spivac scored a takedown and got in half guard. Spivac continued to use his ground game in the third round and that was good enough for the decision win.

Davey Grant vs. Marlon Vera

Grant was landing some good shots before Vera took him down. Grant scrambled up and Vera went for a guillotine, but Grant got out of it. Grant was still putting on the pressure in the second round, but Vera started to let his hands go. They clinch and Vera unloaded with various elbows that sliced open the forehead of Grant. Grant got a takedown in the middle of the round. Vera turned things around by getting on top and dishing out some damage. Vera scored a takedown in the third round and continued to do damage. Vera got his back and locked a rear-naked choke with a minute to go, but couldn’t get it. Vera got the decision win.

Julian Erosa vs. Seungwoo Choi

In seconds of the fight starting, Choi clipped him with a left hook before finishing him off on the ground with strikes.

Bruno Silva vs. Wellington Turman

Turman clinched with him up against the fence and slammed him down before getting back position in the opening round. Silva scrambled and clinched with him up against the fence. Turman tossed him down a few times before getting the back again, but Silva was standing. Silva scrambled and got him down to the ground so he could land some big shots before knocking him out for the win. 

Matt Brown vs. Dhiego Lima

The first round was all striking as they two had a feeling out round. The second round saw Lima do some clinching up against the fence. Brown face-planted him with a right hand.
