Top 10 Biggest Characters in MMA History

5. Diego Sanchez

Maybe it is because of the exposure some fighters got during their time on TUF, but another alumnus makes the cut with Diego Sanchez. During his time on the show, he was shown to be an unorthodox person. From needing his bed to face a certain way to randomly doing yoga to trying to get energy from a lightning storm, he was “that guy.” He still hasn’t changed his ways and is still an eccentric competitor inside and outside the Octagon.

4. Wanderlei Silva

If there was ever a professional MMA fighter that you would never want to upset at a bar, it would be Wanderlei “The Axe Murderer” Silva. The native of Curitiba, Brazil, has fought many of the best fighters in the world and has beaten many of them. He is known as one of the hardest hitters in the history of the sport and his stare downs at weigh-ins and in the center of the cage are enough to make the fans watching at home cringe. Most recently, he has had problems with Chael Sonnen, but the two will need to wait to meet until Sonnen’s drug suspension is up.

3. Jason “Mayhem” Miller

Jason Miller has done it all. He has been the host of a television series (Bully Beatdown), started a brawl with the Diaz crew in Strikeforce, and had his issues with the law. The former Strikeforce middleweight title challenger is known for being hyper in the cage and even crazier outside it. During an episode of The MMA Hour, Miller portrayed a character from a film he was promoting, Here Comes the Boom, and later claimed he was only seeing if the MMA community would embrace someone with a mental issue.

2. Chael Sonnen

When Chael Sonnen got his title shot at Anderson Silva for the first time, he talked himself up so much. Little did the MMA world know that he wasn’t just hyping himself up the entire time, rather just being confident in his ability. He has never been able to win the big one, but has proven himself to the perfect amount of crazy to get fights with Silva, Jon Jones, and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. He is currently out for two years due to suspension, but he won’t stay out of the spotlight for long.

1. Quinton “Rampage” Jackson

The biggest character in the history of the sport is Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. The native of Memphis, Tenn. is the ideal professional wrestler. He competed with TNA for a short time, but he had all the makings of being a bigger star in World Wrestling Entertainment. Come on now, he is perfect on the microphone, wears a big chain around his neck, and howls before and after his fights. How much more of a character could he become?
