Marc-Andre Barriault found himself in trouble early, but he turned things around and came away with a finish in front of a native crowd at UFC Edmonton.
Daukaus managed to land inside with a left, then caught Barriault’s attention again with a right hand and pushed him into the fence. Daukaus scored a takedown and quickly got himself in mount. Daukaus soon got to Barriault’s back and threatened a choke or crank.
Barriault, however, got back to his feet and landed a knee that rocked Daukaus. Daukaus tried to get the takedown again, but Barriault continued to pound away, landing more damaging shots and scoring the comeback first-round TKO.
Barriault needed the victory tonight, coming into UFC Edmonton with five losses in his last six fights. His sole win in that span was a finish of Bruno Silva at UFC 315.
A post-fight bonus for Barriault tonight would mark his fourth straight fight earning a Fight of the Night or performance bonus.
