The Change Bruce Buffer Plans To Make To UFC Intros

Bruce Buffer isn’t going to hand out “The One, The Only” lightly.

The longtime voice of the Octagon has given that introduction to just three fighters, by his own count. Conor McGregor got it first at UFC 246 in January 2020. Jon Jones received it before beating Ciryl Gane for the heavyweight title at UFC 285 in March 2023.

Alex Pereira became the third at UFC 313 in March 2025. He lost the light heavyweight title to Magomed Ankalaev that night.

Buffer addressed that during an interview with Helen Yee Sports.

I’m sorry to say when I said it for him, he lost. But again, that has nothing to do with me saying it for him. His accomplishments and where he’s gotten, it came up with ‘The One, The Only’.

He said fans shouldn’t expect the club to grow quickly.

In respect to the future, I’m really going to give this some thought because if I start calling a lot of fighters ‘The One, The Only’, then it takes away from what ‘The One, The Only’ really is.

Buffer nearly got to use the line twice in one night. Jones and Pereira both pushed for a fight at UFC Freedom 250 in June, but the matchup never came together.
