Conor McGregor Is Breaking A Personal Rule At UFC 329

ByAndrew RavensMixed Martial Arts Journalist

Conor McGregor is breaking a rule he has maintained throughout his career by bringing his children to UFC 329 this Saturday in Las Vegas, having previously held firm on keeping his kids away from fight nights.

McGregor spoke to UFC on TNT Sports about his decision, framing the moment as something he is genuinely excited about.

It’s the best thing ever being a father. I go and pick them up soon. I haven’t seen them in so long because of the training camp, and then I go and pick them up from the airport here in Las Vegas, I’m very excited for it. I’m gonna spend some time with them and then put them to bed and I’ll go back to my house where my coaches and my team are and begin to make the weight.

McGregor acknowledged the timing of his previous stance held up given what happened in his last fight.

I’m happy how it went last time, I didn’t bring them. I was away for camp and camp was very good. Just the hostility of it, thankfully they weren’t there to witness the leg break.

McGregor broke his tibia and fibula in the first round of his July 2021 trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264, ending the bout in harrowing fashion. His partner Dee and his parents have been cageside throughout his career, but his children have never previously attended one of his bouts. Saturday will change that.
