Conor McGregor delivered a sharp verbal volley at Max Holloway during their virtual face-to-face interview on the UFC Freedom 250 broadcast, dismissing Holloway’s claims about his boxing ability and promising to emerge from their July 11 rematch “unscathed.”
McGregor and Holloway meet at UFC 329 on July 11 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas in a welterweight bout. McGregor won their first meeting by unanimous decision at featherweight in 2013.
When Joe Rogan asked McGregor if Holloway would be a one-off fight, McGregor bypassed the question to attack Holloway’s self-assessment.
The best boxer? You said the best boxer? We’re going to see now. No. 1 pound-for-pound featherweight? After I beat you at featherweight, we’re going to see now. You’re not going to lay a glove on me, and even if you do lay a glove on me, I’m going to laugh in your face. It’s another world here against me, and it’s another world at this weight. I’m going to come out of this bout unscathed and in all glory.
Holloway fired back with confidence.
We talk about ancestors, we talk about warriors, I’m the Hawaiian warrior brother. I’m going to touch your face over, and over, and over, and over again brother. I already know this. Welcome to the ‘Mystic Max’ era brother.
McGregor also drew a laugh by referring to Holloway as “my child” when he interrupted.
