In a night that has already produced a number of upsets and near-upsets, Dustin Stoltzfus got in on the fun, scoring a second-round finish of Mansur Abdul-Malik at UFC 330.
“Mansur, you’re a beast; hope to be in the gym with you soon,” Stoltzfus said in his post-fight interview. “We’re just normal people in here. I feel so out of place sometimes. It’s an honor to get to fight in front of all of you and have a performance like that.”
Stoltzfus’ shocking control began in round one, when he tagged Abdul-Malik with a right hand. Stoltzfus got the fight to the ground, getting on top and in mount, threatening to end the fight with both chokes and strikes.
Abdul-Malik got his own takedown and ground-and-pound early in the second round, but Stoltzfus turned things around and troubled Abdul-Malik again. He quickly got to Abdul-Malik’s back and locked up a rear-naked choke to score the victory.
Stoltzfus is 4-4 in the UFC since 2022.
