Jasmine Jasudavicius wants it known that she feels ready for a women’s flyweight title shot, making the statement with a win over Erin Blanchfield in the UFC Edmonton co-main event.
Jasudavicius controlled the first two rounds with multiple takedowns, finding back control almost every time and looking for submissions throughout her control time.
Jasudavicius brought Blanchfield to the mat in the opening round, securing a body triangle and threatening face cranks while delivering ground-and-pound. She found Blanchfield’s back on the ground again in the second, continuing to look for submissions while landing some hard strikes.
Blanchfield looked for a finish desperately in the final round, working combinations and trying to bring out her power. But Jasudavicius’ counterpunching and another takedown sealed the deal in the Canadian’s favor.
All three judges scored the bout 29-28 for Jasudavicius.
Jasudavicius entered this fight off a win over Karine Silva in Winnipeg in April. Jasudavicius has now won two straight since her first-round TKO loss to Manon Fiorot last October.
