Jon Jones says he probably will not fight again, but he is not closing the door.
Replying to a fan on X late Friday, the former two-division UFC champion explained where things stand.
More than likely, I won’t fight again, but as of right now I’m still getting drug tested. Leaving doors open, you never know what the future holds.
The 39-year-old has been tested four times in 2026, according to the UFC’s drug-testing website.
Jones retired in June 2025 instead of facing interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall. He later said he wanted to compete at the UFC White House event, but he was left off that card.
His last fight was a win over Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 in November 2024 to retain the heavyweight title. He won that belt by submitting Ciryl Gane in 2023. Before that, he made 11 light heavyweight title defenses from 2011 to 2020, and he remains the youngest UFC champion ever at 23.
His career has also included several controversies, among them a 2015 hit-and-run that cost him his first title and failed drug tests. In 2021, he was arrested on a domestic battery charge that was later dropped when he pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor count of destroying property.
Jones has spent the week trading shots with Colby Covington, who urged Gable Steveson to leave Jones’ camp. Jones brushed him off again.
I just like reminding Colby that I’m not the man I used to be. And even at my weakest, I’ve always been better than him.
I just want to give him a little more to hate. That’s all.
