While the UFC’s heavyweight division over the last several weeks has been focused on champion Tom Aspinall, new interim champion Ciryl Gane, and Alex Pereira, Jon Jones isn’t going to be left out of the conversation, it seems.
Jones chimed in on social media during the events of UFC Freedom 250, which saw Gane finish Pereira in the co-main event to win the interim title.
Jones did not speak in the video; however, a message was clearly sent. Wearing a chain with a goat on it, Jones lifted his eyebrows toward the camera. In the background, the aftermath of Gane’s victory over Pereira could be heard.
Jones also posted a message of congratulations to Gane, signing it with a goat emoji.
Pereira was going for history at UFC Freedom 250. With a win, he would have become the first fighter in UFC history to win championships in three different weight classes.
UFC CEO and President Dana White had previously stated Pereira would have been in the GOAT conversation if he won the fight — something that apparently did not sit well with Jones, a name who has long been considered the greatest MMA athlete of all time.
Jones may also have been teasing yet another potential comeback, given how easily he defeated Gane at UFC 285 to capture the then-vacant UFC heavyweight championship.
Jones retired in June 2025 after a saga of negotiations between him, the UFC, and then-interim champion Aspinall. Aspinall was promoted to undisputed champion — only for Jones to unretire and try to get back involved after U.S. President Donald Trump’s first tease of a UFC White House event last year.
Aspinall and Gane fought at UFC 321, with the fight ending in a no contest after an eye poke that has since sidelined Aspinall with an eye injury.
