Jon Jones has responded to the pre-fight chatter about Alex Pereira potentially surpassing him as the UFC’s greatest of all time, posting a brief message on Twitter following Pereira’s second-round knockout loss to Ciryl Gane at UFC Freedom 250.
Jones posted a now-deleted message on Twitter.
Thinking that you have the work ethic, the desire, the faith, and the focus to dethrone me as the GOAT of MMA. Good luck to you all.
Jones first addressed the topic on fight night itself, releasing a short video where he rolled his eyes at the talk of losing his spot as Pereira was stopped. His career credentials include 16 wins in UFC title fights, 12 total title defenses, and victories over nine fighters who held UFC titles. He became the youngest UFC champion in history when he won the light heavyweight title in 2011 and later added heavyweight gold with a submission win over Gane in 2023.
