Lucas Fernando put up an impressive UFC debut during the preliminary card of UFC 330, proving to be a dangerous striker as he took out Rafael Tobias.
“It’s a dream come true. I’ve been dreaming about this my entire life,” Fernando said in a post-fight interview backstage. “I didn’t come here just to be another fighter in the UFC.”
Fernando’s key to success was his boxing, targeting the body and working it over, adding in leg kicks for good measure. Tobias did not see to provide much in the way of answering, as Fernando dominated the action.
The former LFA champion and Dana White’s Contender Series alumnus then put things away violently in the third. He landed a knee to the body on Tobias, producing a delayed reaction that saw Tobias crumble to the mat in pain. A couple of follow-up elbows from Fernando brought the fight to a quick end.
Fernando wins his UFC debut and improves to 13-3 here. He has previously held gold in LFA at middleweight and light heavyweight, and plenty are hopeful for a successful UFC run for Fernando.
