Noche UFC has been reduced to 13 fights after visa complications forced Rodrigo Vera out of his scheduled featherweight bout against Ramiro Jimenez.
Vera announced the cancellation Thursday through his Instagram Story. He explained that the necessary paperwork was not completed in time for him to travel to the United States for the September 12 event at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona.
The fight won’t be able to take place, mostly due to a visa paperwork issue that didn’t come through on time,” Vera said in Spanish.
Vera apologized to Jimenez and initially expressed hope that the UFC could secure a replacement opponent. He added that he would continue training while waiting for another opportunity.
The promotion ultimately elected not to keep Jimenez on the card, according to reporter Nolan King. Neither fighter has been given a new matchup, and it is unclear whether the UFC intends to reschedule their bout for a later event.
The cancellation represents another change to a Noche UFC card that previously lost its original main event.
Yair Rodriguez had been scheduled to face Jean Silva but withdrew after suffering an injury during his preparation. Jose Delgado subsequently accepted the fight and will now meet Silva in the five-round headliner.
With Vera vs. Jimenez removed and other recent adjustments accounted for, the latest lineup features six main card contests and seven preliminary bouts. The entire event is scheduled to stream live on Paramount+.
