Oualy Tandia Presses, Strikes His Way to Decision Win

Oualy Tandia appeared to be successful in his attempts to overwhelm J.P. Saint Louis with pressure, scoring a decision win to open the PFL Chicago main card.

After a couple of exchanges, the two got into a clinch battle, fighting for control against the fence. After the break, Tandia’s striking came to life, using his reach advantage and boxing to bust up Saint Louis’ face.

Tandia returned with the pressure in the second, keeping Saint Louis on the back foot. Tandia got a kick of his caught, but the impact of the fighters going to the mat saw Tandia land in top control. Saint Louis, however, was able to sweep and reverse, landing in side control and bouncing back with the control and damage he did from there.

Tandia came out with a blitz to start the third round, keeping Saint Louis on the back foot and keeping him pinned to the fence throughout the round.

With about a minute left, Tandia tripped Saint Louis. Despite narrowly missing a knee that would have been illegal, Tandia controlled the action and took the decision.

Tandia, the former Hexagone MMA champ, was making his PFL debut tonight. He now improves to 6-0 in the sport.
