In front of a native crowd, Charles Jourdain put on a strong display in a war between him and Kyler Phillips, getting the win in the UFC Winnipeg co-main event.
Phillips looked to bring the fight to the ground in round one, but it resulted in a couple of submission attempts by Jourdain. Still, Phillips got back on top, and he returned the fight to the mat when Jourdain stood.
Jourdain found openings and landed powerful strikes during round two; he even looked for an early guillotine. Phillips, however, looked to get the fight back to the ground and use his wrestling. A last-minute takedown, however, resulted in Jourdain nearly getting a guillotine or kimura.
The final round proved to be very competitive, with the fight possibly falling in either man's favor. Phillips landed some solid strikes and looked to use his grappling where possible. Jourdain landed strong, creative strikes, including an elbow that busted open Phillips, as well as a kimura attempt.
