This will mark Makhachev’s first welterweight title defense after defeating Jack Della Maddalena to claim the gold at UFC 322 this past November. The Khabib Nurmagomedov protegee, who has just one loss in professional MMA, was previously lightweight champion, defending that belt four times before moving up to 170.
Machado Garry is 17-1 in professional MMA, with his sole loss coming in a short-notice title eliminator with Shavkat Rakhmonov. Since then, Garry has rebounded with a pair of decision wins over Carlos Prates and former champion Belal Muhammad in 2025.
The co-main event will also have gold at stake when Mackenzie Dern defends the UFC women’s strawweight championship against Gillian Robertson.
This will be Dern’s first defense since defeating Virna Jandiroba for the then-vacant title at UFC 321. Robertson has won five straight, most recently scoring a decision over Amanda Lemos in March.
