UFC Announcer Bruce Buffer Unloads On Josh Hokit’s Trash Talking Antics: ‘He’s Disrespectful’

Bruce Buffer has never shied away from bringing energy to the UFC’s biggest moments, but Josh Hokit’s controversial comments have left the legendary announcer unimpressed.

Hokit made headlines following his second-round stoppage of Derrick Lewis at UFC Freedom 250 at the White House in June. The heavyweight’s post-fight interview with Joe Rogan quickly overshadowed his performance after he referred to former First Lady Michelle Obama as “a man.”

The remark sparked controversy, prompting Hokit to offer an explanation. “The Incredible Hok” later insisted that he intended the comment as a compliment, claiming he was praising Obama’s ability to overcome adversity and work through difficult situations.

However, Buffer is not convinced by Hokit’s approach to self-promotion.

Bruce Buffer Questions Josh Hokit’s Conduct After UFC Freedom 250

Hokit has built his public image around an outspoken personality and provocative interviews, but Buffer believes there is a distinction between promoting a fight and showing disrespect.

Speaking during a Kick livestream with N3ON, Buffer acknowledged Hokit’s fighting ability but took issue with the way the heavyweight carries himself outside the Octagon.

You have a guy like Josh Hokit, the heavyweight, okay? He can fight, but I don’t like what he talks about,” Buffer said. “I think he’s disrespectful, and sorry, Josh, if you’re watching, it’s just the way it is. But this is his thing; it’s his game. It’s not my style.

Despite his criticism, the legendary UFC announcer made it clear that his personal views would not interfere with his professional duties when Hokit faces Ciryl Gane in their upcoming heavyweight title fight at UFC 334, set for November 14 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Anyway, not to put Josh down, but when I introduce him, you step in that octagon, man or woman; you’re putting your blood, sweat, and life on the line, the tears on the floor. I’m there to enhance that moment for you. I give you my all,” Buffer added.
