UFC Freedom 250 Medical Suspensions: Top Names Get Lengthy Sits

Justin Gaethje and Ilia Topuria both received 180-day medical suspensions following their UFC Freedom 250 main event, with Topuria also requiring clearance from an oral and maxillofacial surgeon and Gaethje needing MRIs on his right wrist and left knee cleared before returning.

The full UFC Freedom 250 medical suspensions were provided to MMA Junkie by California State Athletic Commission executive director Andy Foster, who served as one of the head regulators of the event. All 14 fighters were suspended by the Association of Boxing and Combative Sports Commissions. Fighters can return before the conclusion of non-mandatory suspensions if cleared by a doctor.

  • Justin Gaethje: 180 days or right wrist and left knee MRIs cleared; also 45 days mandatory rest
  • Ilia Topuria: 180 days or cleared by oral and maxillofacial surgeon; also 60 days for TKO

  • Alex Pereira: 180 days or maxillofacial CT scan cleared; also 45 days for TKO
  • Sean O’Malley: 8 days mandatory rest

  • Diego Lopes: 30 days or until left eye cleared by physician
