Marlon “Chito” Vera can get the finish chip off his shoulder to his relief, as he scored three knockdowns of Charles Jourdain en route to scoring a third-round TKO in the featured UFC 331 prelim.
Vera made UFC history in the fight, becoming the first fighter to score knockdowns in three different bantamweight fights.
Vera gained control of the fight with the two battling in close exchanges during the opening round, putting emphasis on such with a couple of takedowns during the round as well. Vera took over in the second round, scoring a pair of knockdowns via both a left hand and a knee.
Vera continued to punish Jourdain in the third round, landing a number of kicks to the body. A pair of punches later on in the round dropped Jourdain again, and Jourdain informed referee Mike Beltran that it was “No mas.”
Vera snaps a four-fight losing skid with this victory tonight. It also marks his first victory via a finish since knocking out Dominick Cruz with a head kick in 2022.
