Josh Hokit Says He Could Probably Make Middleweight

Josh Hokit says he could probably make middleweight and that light heavyweight would be easy, but would rather create a 225-pound "big guy BMF" division.

Josh Hokit is fighting for the heavyweight title next week. He’s already thinking about weight classes well below it.

The unbeaten Hokit (10-0) challenges heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane at UFC 334 at Madison Square Garden on Nov. 14. Speaking with Jorge Masvidal on Death Row MMA, Hokit said he walks around at 235 pounds and could drop more than one division.

I mean, it [light heavyweight] would be easy. I mean, I could probably make middleweight, honestly.

Middleweight would be tough but seeing these big a– m———- going down to middleweight, seeing how big they are, I could probably do that.

Hokit admitted a third belt might be “too much ego getting involved but if it presents itself, f— it.” Still, he has another idea that wouldn’t require cutting 50 pounds.

Honestly, I want to make my own division. Maybe like a 225, big guy BMF. True BMF. You know what I’m saying? And now, b—- a– middleweights that want to be weight bullies, they’ll just meet me at 205 and we just scrap it out.

No fighter has won UFC titles in three divisions. Hokit’s speed, wrestling and cardio have been major advantages against bigger heavyweights, though, and dropping down would take some of that away.

First, he has to get past Gane. Michael Bisping has already made his UFC 334 prediction.
