Conor McGregor Has Very Specific Condition for Giving Alexander Volkanovski More Respect

ByAndrew RavensMixed Martial Arts Journalist

Conor McGregor says Alexander Volkanovski is “not bad” but not on his level, while offering an unusual incentive that would prompt him to give the Australian featherweight more credit: pushing his Forged Irish Stout brand in Australia.

McGregor spoke to Fox Sports Australia during UFC 329 fight week.

Styles make fights. It’s not a good matchup for him. He’s a good fighter, he’s not a bad fighter. He’s not on the level of ‘The Mac.’ I tell you what, if they look after our Forged Irish Stout in Australia, I’ll put him up the pecking order.

Volkanovski and McGregor are both former UFC featherweight champions. Volkanovski defeated Holloway three times during his title reign before losing the belt. McGregor has made clear he does not intend to return to featherweight or lightweight, making any fantasy matchup between the two effectively moot at this stage.

McGregor faces Max Holloway at welterweight on Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, returning to competition after a five-year absence.
