Conor McGregor has officially begun the next stage of his recovery after his long-awaited UFC comeback ended in heartbreak.
On Monday, the former two-division UFC champion revealed that he was heading into surgery to repair the knee injury he suffered during the main event of UFC 329 against Max Holloway.

In the caption accompanying the post, McGregor revealed that the procedure will be the fifth surgery of his professional career.
The Irish superstar returned to the Octagon at UFC 329 after a five-year absence, but his comeback lasted just 69 seconds. McGregor injured his knee in the opening moments of the fight against Holloway, forcing referee Mike Beltran to wave off the contest.
Subsequent medical evaluations revealed that “The Notorious” had torn both his ACL and meniscus, injuries expected to sideline him for approximately a year.
The setback comes just days after McGregor declared that his next UFC appearance would be his “Last Dance.” He also has one fight remaining on his current UFC contract, meaning his next bout could be his final under the promotion unless he signs a new deal.
